- Subscription data: your subscription plan and billing status. Payment card details are processed exclusively by Stripe and are never stored on our servers.
- Technical data: browser type, IP address, and session information collected automatically when you use the service.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your account.
- Provide, maintain, and improve the MealMap service.
- Process subscription payments via our payment provider, Stripe.
- Send transactional emails such as password resets, welcome messages, and subscription notifications.

We do not use your personal information for advertising purposes and we do not sell your data to third parties.
3. How We Store Your Information
Your data is stored in a secured SQL Server database. We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information against unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure. However, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, we will delete your personal data within a reasonable timeframe, unless we are required to retain it by law.
4. Cookies and Session Data
MealMap uses session cookies to keep you logged in during your visit. These cookies are essential for the service to function and are deleted when you close your browser or log out. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.
5. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services, each with their own privacy practices:
- Stripe — payment processing. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.
- OpenAI — used to assist with recipe import. Recipe text you submit for import may be sent to OpenAI's API. We do not send any personally identifying information to OpenAI. See OpenAI's Privacy Policy.
6. Sharing Your Information
We do not share your personal information with third parties except:
- With service providers (such as Stripe and OpenAI) as described above, and only to the extent necessary to deliver the service.
- If required to do so by law or a lawful authority.
- To protect the rights, property, or safety of MealMap, our users, or others.

Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to:
- Request access to the personal information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct any information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
